SPIDA
Students Preventing and Informing on Drugs & Alcohol (SPIDA) is a youth-led group organizing to prevent alcohol and substance use among their peers in Charlotte and Mecklenburg County. As the youth prevention arm of the Coalition, SPIDA works alongside coalition members to advocate for prevention and wellness in our community.
Who is SPIDA?
Youth ages 13-18 residing in the Charlotte Mecklenburg County. They represent all socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds that make our community diverse.
What’s SPIDA’s Goal?
The youth of SPIDA are committed to educating themselves, peers, and the community the dangers of underage substance abuse with the hopes reversing the rising trends of use and perceptions of use among youth, and engage youth as active members of SPIDA, and being a source of support for youth in our community.
When does SPIDA meet?
During the summer SPIDA will meet every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00am to 2:00pm and during the school year meetings are held Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:00pm to 5:00pm. Times may be extended and days may be added if students want more time to plan events etc.
Where does SPIDA meet?
SPIDA meets where youth are. Whether it’s at their school, at our offices or at a skating rink, we find the most comfortable place where youth can be themselves and can flourish.
